volenergy AG acquires bp retail station network in Austria

Suhr, 20 July 2026 – volenergy AG, one of Switzerland’s leading companies in the supply of liquid energy solutions, has signed an agreement to acquire the bp retail station network in Austria. With this step, volenergy AG is expanding internationally and will be able to offer its customers an even broader range of liquid energy solutions for mobility and heating.

The strategic direction of volenergy AG, headquartered in Suhr (Switzerland) remains unchanged: to supply Switzerland and, in the future, Austria with liquid energy solutions while placing an increasing focus on sustainable energy solutions.

The acquisition of the bp service station network marks an important milestone in the company’s development. “bp is a leading brand in the Austrian market, with service stations in attractive locations. At the same time, the transaction enables us to leverage synergies in the procurement of fossil and alternative energy products and to supply both markets more efficiently,” says Ramon Werner, CEO of volenergy AG.

The bp brand and its premium fuels will remain in place. The popular fuel cards for fleet and private customers will continue to be available. Following approval by the Austrian Federal Competition Authority, we will assess opportunities to further develop the convenience store offering in collaboration with our partner Valora. Around 60 employees of bp Retail Austria GmbH will join volenergy.

“The market for transport and heating fuels is also declining in Austria. Consolidation and the realisation of synergies are therefore a logical step. With a solid financial foundation and an entrepreneurial culture, volenergy is well positioned to help shape the future of energy supply in Switzerland and Austria and to make targeted investments in low-CO2 energy solutions,” adds Ramon Werner.

Completion of the transaction is subject to approval by the competent competition authorities.
